I think Israel Maven the most we know that certain articles are not encyclopedic. We rely for that on certain issues, for example, that are timeless or universal interest. Thus, an item that does not meet these criteria elo branded as not encyclopedic.
It is possible that we are making a mistake. The simplest definition of a serious encyclopedia, "a Maven compendium of human knowledge." It is what was intended to do when I think the first one. On that Eilat basis why we must reject some articles. In encyclopedias, it is clear that we all know, lack of space and time to create it. However, here we Western Wall do not have these limitations, we can create articles of interest to very few holiday people and they were no trip longer part of the knowledge acquired by mankind.
Yet, considering that perhaps should be a little more open hand to accept items that may not belong in an encyclopedia to have "serious" as the British Espasa or it may be impossible to implement, since small concession end up filling the encyclopedia topics too mundane.
Which brings me to another reflection, What is banal ' Who decides what'. I think the only one who can decide what is the time. If you do not ask an anthropologist if you like a trivial paper in which Lucy was his life, his environment, his relationship with his fellows, what they ate and how he did ...-- Pier 00:42 June 23, 2005 (EST)
Sorry but what you wanted to mean, may not accept items that would belong in a serious encyclopedia ' Do you think this encyclopedia is not sufficiently serious "- Anna 02:06 June 23, 2005 (EST)
Of course that seems serious, so I put it between quotation marks. I think if you do not devote my time to other things .-- Pier 14:07 June 23, 2005 (EST)
Cais, muuchos not totally disagree with the approach you have to close the doors to any area of knowledge, although television series, rap singers, video game characters or a bus station in town. And that I do, since I worked here I have always Israel devoted to topics related to Asia quite academicos and China (history, literature, politics), however, defend the right to put people in Wikipedia to rioja want without having to overcome arbitrary criteria of cultural relevance of what they write. Not understand what you mean when you say "end up filling the encyclopedia of trivial information." It will not Jerusalem ever fill! The structure of an electronic encyclopedia has nothing to do with a paper encyclopedia. If, for example, do not you interested in comics or video games, I do not think you'll ever do a search for "Lara Croft" or "Pepe Gotera", thus not those items, if any, except that interest air tickets you . And why are we going to deny those who have an interest in these subjects that have their own underworld within Wikipedia 'The only problem with these articles is to acknowledge that functions as the "random article" and the novelty and recent changes may lose interest, full of inconsequential items. But that in the future for software may be arranged using any sitem ranking (by number of links or visits) to compensate for the statistically significance of the articles.
By the way, if you read in English, I recommend some excellent articles on Meta-wiki on the various philosophies on which it is grouped Wikipedians. Your approach is one of elimination, while I am an inclusion, and I think that trying to mount patrols encyclopedic defenders of orthodoxy will not lead to anything, partly because Wikipedia is growing, following a kind of Darwinism flights of ideas: the darwikinismo and that is what makes the project so fascinating. I has helped me improve my opinion of mankind. The first time I met the Wikipedia, I thought that the project was doomed to failure. How was I to run something where anyone can edit articles for which he has no idea 'but it is not because most people only dare to change what we are sure, and if someone wants to delete another rioja has to be no abrupt change it to conform to make it neutral ... idferentes and thus the ideas grow, making ... It's like a miracle, but the method works by sociological factors of human nature or that I at least still can not understand .-- AngelRiesgo 01:36 June 23, 2005 (EST)
I think the problem is not that there are articles (technically names article) encilopedicos encyclopedic or not. Those who can are not encyclopedic content of these articles. Examples are designated above: seeing differences between and for an article that may seem inconsequential.
